Enacted by the U.S. President Bush on December 2007, the VGB Pool and Spa Safety Act (P&SSAct) is effective since the December 19, 2008. This rule is designed to prevent swimming pools hazards. The dangers of pools like body entrapments or eviscerations are more often invisible and deadly.

The VGB Act settled U.S. CPSC measures for pool and spa security. Under the act, each drain covers must meet ASME/ANSI A112.19.8-2007 in all public swimming pools and Spas.
